Aquatic Center

The Aquatic Centre is another facet of the sports complex. The Centre offers a number of facilities for persons learning to swim as well as those who compete professionally. Teams from Canada, the U.K., Sweden, and U.S.A. travel to Barbados for the exclusive purpose of training at the Aquatic Centre. Most of these teams which represent clubs, universities, colleges and national teams train in Barbados during the months of December and January, to get away from the cold winter climate of their home countries.

The Centre has been marketed as a fitness facility and is used by members of the adult community for fitness or recreational purposes. Special interest groups such as the Special Olympics Association and associated groups for the blind and handicapped also use the Centre for therapy and fitness.
