Astroturf

The astro turf, which is also another facet of the Sir Garfield Sobers Sports Complex was funded by the Barbados government in 1996. The construction was three million Barbados dollars and the funds were managed by the management of the Gymnasium.

The turf is managed and maintained by The Barbados Hockey Federation and has hosted four International Tournaments in 1996, 2000, 2001 and 2004. They are also the host of the world known Banks Hockey Festival.
